Explantion for size of Caesar on Rise

After not posting for while due to getting everything set up I have finally got everything in order.

To start things off let's talk about my second favorite Apes movie Rise. Now most may not put it at the top but I do for the simple fact of Andy Serkis as Caesar, his acting was superb and Oscar award winning good. However that is not why I want to talk about Rise, the reason is the size of Caesar.

Most say that Chimpanzees do not grow that big, however I disagree and I have found a good explanation for Caesar's size that makes sense, since they never said exactly where in Africa Bright Eyes was caught I am going to choose the Congo for this reason alone, Giant Chimpanzee's live in the Congo. Also known as Bili Apes these 'giant' chimpanzee's grow to two meters in height which is just a tad over six feet, making Caesar a great candidate for being an offspring of one. Bright Eyes could have easily bred with a Bili Ape by either answering the mating call or by being raped by one. I am leaning more towards the rape answer as another type of chimpanzee the Bonobo have been known for such acts as their whole heirarchy is based on sex.

That idea farfetched? I don't think so at all, now logically I don't think the film makers had that idea in mind at all however, I feel that it makes a tad bit more sense than saying he grew due to the ALZ-112 that was in his system when he was born.

Conquest of the Planet of the Apes Part I

Marvel UK - Planet of the Apes issue #63 (Conquest of the Planet of the Apes Part I)

This issue was actually a real treat for me, as being a huge fan of Conquest this allowed me to love it even more. The beginning is by far the best sequence and it is a shame that it was cut from the final film, but other then that part it is pretty much a word for word translation of the movie up to the part where they go to the Memorial for Rover and Tabby.

Moench's writing ability is not full center in this issue as it is a film adaptation, and Alfredo Allala's artwork is beautiful and that is putting it lightly, his line work and pacing do so much for the issue that color is not even missed, a wonderful piece of Planet of the Apes for sure.

If you have not had the privilege of reading this story I assure you as a Apes fan you are truly missing out. If you are like me and thought that the Marvel UK issues are the only way to enjoy these, here is a nice bit of surprise. The Marvel UK issues were actually just reprints of the Planet of the Apes Magazine's over here in the states, so do yourself a favor and snatch these while you can as the prices are starting to jump up again.

Artwork - 5/5
The art is truly a masterpiece to the point of color would take away from it.

Writing - 4/5
This is in no way a knock on Moench's ability to write but he wasn't able to shine with this film adaptation

I would recommend this to the point of almost giving the issue away to someone who hasn't been able to experience this series.

Giant Chimpanzee...

I am not sure if anyone has every seen these before but they are a new species of ape found in the Congo called bili apes. Standing at around 2 meters tall (roughly 6 feet). If only the Congo wasn't such a hostile place we would be able to learn more about them.

Ape Shall Never Kill Ape...

Just got done reading Revolution on the Planet of the Apes, which is a sequel to Conquest, an amazing six issue mini series that all ape fans must at least read.

I was going to do a review on them but that will have to wait till tomorrow as not only is it getting late over here, I now have an excuse to watch Conquest again. So everyone have a nice evening/morning and expect a Conquest related review tomorrow.
